The 2011 Pura Vida No Pro is right around the corner and this year is the 10th anniversary. Once again we will be welcoming volunteers, local and travelling, to help mentor this deserving group.
We are looking forward to catching waves and enjoying the day with the family that makes up the Pura Vida No Pro.

The 2010 Pura Vida No Pro is quickly approaching.
Once again our team will be bringing a group of at-risk youth from the city-center of San Jose, CR to the beaches of Estirillos for a one-day surf clinic/celebration.
For those who cannot attend, we are seeking sponsorships for the kids. $50 pays for one orphaned child to experience the simple pleasure of a day on the beach amongst friends and positive role models.
This event has been changing lives (of the children and volunteers alike) since 2000. We hope you can help us continue our effors!
Everyone has heard about our cause down in Costa Rica....and this year was no different.
It was another great year. 40 kids. 50 volunteers. Hundreds of waves caught, hundreds of games played and hundreds of smiles.
Its amazing every year and I am grateful that I have stumbled into this simple and humble way to give back through surfing. And I think we have created more than a few surfers.
Inciuding Jose......who 6 years ago was the small timid dude that I first put on a board. This year he paddled out as a member of our team in the late afternoon surf session. He pounded through the shore break, turned to an approaching set, paddled hard and caught a wave. Our team took second place.
It was money.
The Pura Vida No Pro is a simple way to give back that also affords me a week on the Pacific Coast with some great friends in Playa Hermosa Costa Rica. Thanks to Steve, John, Cabinas Las Olas, Ethan, Mary, Silvania, Jason, Cameron, Elke, Destin, Reno, Dana and the rest for a money weekend.

The Pura Vida No Pro began in 2001 when a group of surfers came together with the non profit group Hearts of Stone to introduce the sport of surfing to a group of kids from the Hosipico de Huerfanos orphanage in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Since then the event has turned into an annual gathering of kids, locals and travelling surfers. Over the past 8 years this event has impacted the lives of hundreds of kids and volunteers alike, highlighting the power of surfing and the dynamic impact it has on all of our lives.
Held on the beaches of Estirillos, Costa Rica, this event brings all levels of waveriders together for a day of fun, support and kindness. All surfers are welcome. The event is held every year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The 2009 Pura Vida No Pro will be held on November 21st at the Pelican Hotel in Estirillos, Costa Rica.
Those unable to attend, we ask you support our cause by purchasing the Finding Pura Vida Media Project. Proceeds from the film and book go to the children at the Hospicio de Huerfanos.
